5/8/2012-Game 1 of the Pecos League is complete. Trinidad Triggers 4 Santa Fe Fuego 3 the Trinidad Triggers got their offense from Jason Venya. He shocked the crowd and the Fuego with two solo homers. He also played solid defense. The Triggers got a solid start from Luis Pardo who threw six innings striking out ten hitters. The Triggers almost threw the game away when Mario Echeverria threw the ball away on what would have been a for sure double play. Santa Fe only was able to gather three hits, Josh Valle had a huge 2 rbi single that tied the game at two. The Triggers had great entertainment and had 589 fans watch their first ever game on a cold Colorado Tuesday Night. The two teams meet tommorow night in Santa Fe. The new umpiring was substantially better than the 2011 season. The players played crisper and the league is off to a great start. Santa Fe got great scoreless relief from Jermiah Steinart and Joey Garcia. John Sullivan got the save for Trinidad pitching brillantly for 1-2/3 innings.
