1/8/2016-The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs announced today that the Field Manager and Director of Baseball Operations of the Leagues newest team, the Tucson Saguaros, will be JD Droddy. Droddy managed the Trinidad Triggers in 2013 and 2014 and is currently the League Adjudicator. He is one of only three managers in Pecos League history to take a team to the Pecos League playoffs in back-to-back years. As a manager, he has one of the highest rates in the history of the league in getting his players promoted to higher independent leagues and MLB affiliated organizations. He began with the Pecos League in its inaugural year, 2011, as a volunteer. He was named Assistant Manager of the Triggers for the 2012 season and was elevated to the head job in October of that year.

"Im extremely excited about this opportunity," Droddy said. "Moving into a big market like Tucson is great for the League and Im happy to be a part of it."

The Pecos League, an independent minor league, begins its sixth season of operation with ten teams, ranging from Tucson in the West to Topeka, Kansas, in the East. The League will have teams in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Kansas, and Colorado. Two teams were added this year. In addition to Tucson, the League added a team in Salina, Kansas. It also moved the Las Vegas (NM) Train Robbers to Topeka. For 2016, the League will operate with two divisions. Tucson will be in the Southern Division, along with Santa Fe (NM), White Sands (NM), Las Cruces (NM), Alpine (TX), and Trinidad (CO). The Saguaros will open the season at home May 19. They will play each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening in Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium in Tucson and each Sunday afternoon in Warren Ballpark in Bisbee, Arizona.
