1/20/2012-The White Sands Pupfish ballpark was named the aquarium at Griggs Field for the 2011 season. The season went better than expected but people often wondered why is this place named the aquarium when we are the middle of a desert. The logic behind the name was the Fish Nets in right center field that were required to keep games in line with the high altitude. This year the aquarium will exist with water. Matt McNeile and Wally Anderson are partnering to get a swimming pool installed in right field similar to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Obviously the pool won't be as elaborate as the Diamondbacks but anything with water is welcome in the summer months in the desert. Many Baseball historians believe that BOB Ballpark in Phoenix was the first ballpark with a swimming pool in right field that had a homer splash in a game. They are very wrong in fact Jarry Park in Montreal has a homer land in its neighboring swimming pool in a game by Pirates Slugger Willie Stargell. See Photo

In Alamogordo in the Summer of 2012, any person who wants to attend the game and take a dip can do so for $4. The pool will be in foul territory and will be sponsored by a local pool and spa company. The $4 will goto the booster club.
