San Rafael Pacifics Build Early Lead Hold Off Vallejo Seaweed

May 22 2025 12:00AM - The San Rafael Pacifics defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 10-6 on May 22 2025 at Albert Park in San Rafael. San Rafael scored five runs in the first inning and added three in the second to take an 8-1 lead. The Pacifics finished with 10 hits while Vallejo had seven.

Fred Buckson led San Rafael with three hits and two runs. Aki Buckson scored three times and drew four walks, while Payton Rios went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI. John Bicos drove in two runs and Telly Hill added two RBI. Kyle Guerra scored twice and collected a hit, and Keith Whitaker had San Rafael’s only listed extra-base hit with a double.

Vallejo mounted its biggest rally in the eighth inning by scoring five runs, cutting the deficit to 9-6. Bryce Hayman went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, while Jacob Savoy went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI. San Rafael answered with a run in the bottom of the eighth to restore its four-run advantage.

Jake Dent earned the win for San Rafael after allowing one earned run on four hits in six innings with five strikeouts and four walks. Marcus Watkins surrendered five runs two earned in two innings, and Richard Kiel worked a scoreless ninth. Francisco Leon took the loss for Vallejo after allowing nine runs six earned on seven hits in four innings with four strikeouts and five walks.
