4/8/2023-Denver native Matthew Repplinger has been named the third manager in the brief history of the Martinez Sturgeon. Repplinger succeeds former Major League pitcher Manny Corpas who guided the Sturgeon to a 19-31 mark a year ago. Ron Witmeyer was the first manager in team history in 2021. "Were excited to announce Matthew Repplinger as the manager of the Sturgeon for this upcoming season," Pecos League Commissioner Andrew Dunn said. "With what he brings to the table, hell be an excellent fit for Martinez."

Repplinger has a vast and varied baseball background. This past spring training he spent with the Seattle Mariners as their yoga instructor. He has held yoga events and training sessions with many Major League teams the past several years.

He founded, managed and played for the Denver Browns, one of the most successful semi-pro teams in the country. He also was the general manager for many Browns championship teams. A baseball historian, Repplinger is also an author, having written the book "Baseball In Denver," a look at the long history of the game in the Mile High City.

"Im excited to lead the Sturgeon this season," Repplinger stated. "It will be a fun challenge and I couldnt be happier to be in a place where people love baseball and I hope to add to the great history of baseball in Martinez." Dunn noted that Repplinger is the third current manager in the Pecos League who hails from Denver; the others being Relly Mercurio at Bakersfield and Bill Rogan at Marysville. "Those guys all know each other and will want to beat each others heads in," Dunn said. "That will create intense, spirited and exciting ballgames." Rogan, who is entering his fourth year of managing, said, "Im looking forward to matching wits with Repp. He knows the nuances of the game and I know his team will be prepared. I just hope Repps giant beard doesnt intimidate us into playing like a bunch of frightened hobos."

The Sturgeon begin spring training on Monday May 15. They will host a pair of exhibition tilts at Joe DiMaggio Field, against the Dublin Leprechauns on Saturday May 20 at 6 p.m. and the San Rafael Pacifics on Sunday May 21 at 2 p.m.
