8/27/2019-A NOTE FROM JD DRODDY

Dear Triggers Fans:

During the three years I was privileged to be part of the Triggers family (2012 - 2014), I was blessed to be associated with some outstanding players and coaches -- outstanding not only regarding their playing/coaching abilities, but also their characters. As has been documented here before, many of them went on to playing in higher leagues, including most recently the MLB. But what may not be known by most Triggers fans is how many went on to excel in baseball in non-playing positions. Five of these individuals come to mind:

KC JUDGE (2014) -- KC went on to play for Amarillo and Grand Prairie in the American Association. He is now the hitting coach for the Missoula Osprey of the Pioneer League, the advanced rookie affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

TONY SMITH (2012-2013) -- After departing the Triggers, Tony played for El Paso and Winnipeg in the American Association and Schaumberg in the Frontier League. He is now the pitching coach for Schaumberg.

MICHAEL MORRIS (2014) -- Morris played for Roswell in 2015 and for me in Tucson in 2016, before heading to the Florence Freedom in the Frontier League. He is now the bench coach of the Freedom.

ALEX FERGUSON (Assistant Manager, 2013) -- For the past few years, Alex has been the bench coach of the River City Rascals of the Frontier League.

ERIC BINDER (2012) -- Eric is another Triggers alumnus that has made it to the major leagues, although in his case not as a player. Eric is now the Vice President for Baseball Operations of the Cleveland Indians.

Each of these individuals got an opportunity with the Trinidad Triggers to begin or extend his professional baseball career. Each took advantage of the opportunity to advance to higher leagues. Triggers fans should understand that without their support -- including attendance at games -- these opportunities would not be possible. Please keep supporting the Triggers. You make a difference.
