July 6 2019 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 8-7 after building an eight-run lead and holding off a late Bakersfield comeback. Monterey scored twice in the third inning, twice in the fifth, twice in the sixth and twice in the seventh to take an 8-0 advantage. Bakersfield answered with one run in the seventh, five in the eighth and one in the ninth, but Monterey secured the win.
Monterey finished with nine hits, including home runs by Morgan Blatnik and Coleman Poje. Blatnik drove in two runs and scored once while Poje also had two RBIs and scored once. Steven Longo went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Monterey also received a double from Rory Graf-Brennan and a double from Dylan Laudano. Bakersfield collected nine hits, led by Evan Hirschbaums 2-for-4 performance with three RBIs and two runs scored. Hidekel Abreu and Jarrett Anton each had two hits, with Anton adding an RBI.
Nick Grim earned the win for Monterey after allowing three hits and no runs with eight strikeouts in six innings. Ulysses Ramos recorded the save, pitching 1.1 innings with three strikeouts. Matt Weiss took the loss for Bakersfield despite striking out four in six innings; he allowed seven hits and six runs, four earned. Monterey committed one error, while Bakersfield was charged with two.
