July 1 2019 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the White Sands Pupfish 4-1, scoring in the first and third innings before adding two insurance runs in the sixth. White Sands’ lone run came in the fifth, and Trinidad finished with a 4-1 advantage despite the Pupfish collecting five hits. The Triggers committed no errors while White Sands had two.
Scott Stetson led Trinidad’s offense with two hits and two RBI, including a triple. Nick Shumpert also had two hits, while Cole Fenner and Nick Stoll each scored a run. White Sands shortstop Ricky Butts Jr. went 3-for-3 and scored the Pupfish’s only run, and V. Desai and Jose Mendoza added one hit apiece.
Sean Kiley earned the win for Trinidad after allowing one run on five hits with one walk and nine strikeouts over 6.2 innings. David Gates recorded the save with a scoreless seventh inning. White Sands starter Charlie Fletcher took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts in six innings; two of the runs were earned.
