June 13 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 16-6. High Desert collected 12 hits and took advantage of two Bakersfield errors while improving its record to 46-18. Bakersfield finished with 13 hits and no errors.
High Desert built an 8-2 lead through five innings with four runs in the first followed by single runs in the fourth and sixth and three in the fifth. The Yardbirds broke the game open with six runs in the seventh and added another in the eighth. Bakersfield scored three runs in the sixth and one in the eighth but could not overcome the deficit.
Danny Kerr led High Desert with two hits and four RBI while Daniel Anciso drove in three runs and hit a home run. Daniel Gardner scored three times and added two hits and two RBI, and Dillon Fahr contributed two hits and three runs. Slayton Vaughan and Ed Milian also drove in runs for the Yardbirds.
Andrew Mclaughlin earned the win after allowing 11 hits and five earned runs in six innings with two walks and four strikeouts. John Kopicky pitched a scoreless inning with three strikeouts, and Austin Brown finished with 1.2 innings and three strikeouts. Bakersfields Karlos Joseph had three hits, four RBI and a home run, while Luis Alvarado scored twice and collected two hits. Tyler Baumann took the loss after surrendering eight runs in five innings.
