June 4 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 3-2 at Adelanto Stadium. High Desert scored twice in the sixth inning and added the go-ahead run in the ninth to overcome Monterey’s two-run fourth inning and secure the victory.
James Prockish provided Monterey’s offense with a two-run home run in the fourth inning. He finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Monterey collected five hits overall. High Desert had nine hits, led by Slayton Vaughan’s 2-for-5 performance and two-hit efforts from D. Reddy and Dillon Fahr.
High Desert starter Colton Draney allowed two runs on four hits over five innings with five strikeouts and three walks. Chase Martin and Austin Brown combined for 2.0 scoreless innings before John Kopicky earned the win with two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Monterey starter George Faue held High Desert scoreless for five innings while striking out eight and allowing five hits and five walks. Andrew Arnold followed with three innings, permitting two runs, and Daniel Bodishbaugh took the loss after allowing one earned run and issuing three walks without recording an out.
