Whiptails Pull Away From Train Robbers 7-4

May 31 2019 The California City Whiptails defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 7-4 after building leads with three runs in the fourth inning two in the fifth and two in the seventh. California finished with 12 hits while Bakersfield collected six.

Tyler England went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI for the Whiptails. Ben Tingen and Blake Maddox each had two hits and two RBI while Brady Usherwood added two hits and one RBI. California also received two hits from Blake Wilson and a two-hit performance from Julian Tejeda.

Bakersfield’s Karlos Joseph hit a home run and drove in two runs. Jose Arocha added one hit and one RBI while designated pitcher Devin Alexander also had a hit and an RBI. The Train Robbers scored once in the second two runs in the fourth and once in the fifth but did not score over the final four innings.

Trevor Wick earned the win after allowing one earned run on one hit with three strikeouts in two innings. Roberto Jimenez worked 1.1 scoreless innings and Ben Tingen recorded the save with 1.2 scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Alexander took the loss for Bakersfield after surrendering seven earned runs on 10 hits in 6.1 innings while striking out nine.
