Fuego Strike Early and Roll Past Wind

July 3 2018 The Santa Fe Fuego scored five runs in the first inning and four more in the second to build an early cushion before defeating the Garden City Wind 13-3. Santa Fe finished with 15 hits and added runs in the fourth sixth and ninth innings. Garden City scored twice in the first and once in the seventh and collected seven hits in the loss.

Santa Fe’s offense was led by C. Kwitzer who went 3-for-5 with a home run three runs and three RBI. Mike Annone added three hits two runs and two RBI while Danny Beaver went 3-for-5 with two runs. Ambrose Romero drove in three runs and A. Stubblefield had two RBI. Garden City’s Jonathan Tasis had three hits and one RBI while Blake Butcher hit a two-run homer.

Yale Hughes earned the win for Santa Fe after allowing five hits and three runs two earned over eight innings. He walked three and struck out eight. Julian Devora worked a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts. Garden City starter Chip White took the loss after surrendering 11 hits and 10 runs six earned in four innings with two walks and four strikeouts. Randy Hair allowed four hits and three runs over five innings.
