Wichita Wingnuts Shut Out Salina Stockade 5-0

August 1 2017 The Wichita Wingnuts defeated the Salina Stockade 5-0 at Dean Evans Stadium, limiting Salina to seven hits and no runs. Wichita scored twice in the second inning and added three runs in the fourth to take control of the seven-inning game.

Wichita’s Luis Vargas went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in four of the team’s five runs. Ryan Prigatano collected two hits and scored twice, while Mike Medina had a hit and scored two runs. Chris Stringer added a hit, an RBI and a sacrifice fly. Salina’s Jonathan Moroney and Logan Trowbridge each had two hits in the loss.

Wichita starter Ryan Kussmaul allowed four hits and struck out five over four scoreless innings. Tyler Kane earned the win with a scoreless fifth inning and two strikeouts, and Grant Gould and Andrew Boyle each worked a scoreless inning to complete the shutout. Salina starter Jordan Cummings took the loss after allowing five runs on five hits and four walks in three innings.
