Santa Fe Fuego Rally Past Raton Osos 15-10

July 18 2013 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Raton Osos 15-10 in a high-scoring game at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe collected 15 hits and overcame 11 hits by Raton, with the Fuego scoring in six of the first eight innings. Santa Fe broke through for three runs in the first inning and erupted for six in the third to take a 9-2 lead. Raton answered with four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, but Santa Fe added two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to build a 15-7 advantage. Raton scored three times in the ninth but could not complete the comeback. C. Sherrer led the Fuego attack with three hits, including a home run, and six RBI. C. Calamia went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI, while K. Zimmerman hit a home run and drove in three runs. Josh Barnett scored three runs and added two RBI. For Raton, Stedman Smith hit a two-run home run, and Andrew Hancsak drove in three runs. Wesley Jones had two hits, three runs, two walks and four stolen bases. Forrest Carpenter earned the win after allowing five hits and six runs, four earned, in four innings with three walks and one strikeout. Gil Tussey followed with three innings, allowing three hits and one run, while B. Hicks and Jerome Romero combined for two scoreless innings. Romero recorded the save. Tim Sylvester took the loss for Raton after giving up eight hits and nine runs in three innings.
