White Sands Defeats Roswell 5-2

July 17 2011 White Sands Pupfish scored three runs in the third inning and added single runs in the fifth and seventh to defeat the Roswell Invaders 5-2. The Pupfish finished with seven hits and one error, while Roswell collected eight hits and committed two errors.

Tim Rotola led White Sands with two hits and two RBIs. Chris Nyman went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, while Ryan Pembroke and Chris De Biasi each scored once and De Biasi added two hits. The box score also credited K. Peterson with a home run and an RBI.

Roswell’s Clifton Thomas had four hits in five at-bats, including three doubles, and drove in the Invaders’ first run. Joey Friedman added two hits and scored Roswell’s other run.

Brandon Glazebrook earned the win after allowing six hits and two runs, one earned, in eight innings. He walked three and struck out four. Timothy Aucoin recorded the save with a scoreless ninth inning, allowing two hits and striking out one. Wally Goodline took the loss for Roswell after giving up seven hits and five runs, four earned, in seven innings.
