Carlsbad Bats Cruise Past White Sands Pupfish 13-2

July 13 2011 The Carlsbad Bats defeated the White Sands Pupfish 13-2 at Griggs Park, scoring in five innings while outhitting White Sands 14-10. Carlsbad broke through with five runs in the first inning, added two in the third, three in the fifth, one in the seventh and two in the ninth. The Pupfish scored both of their runs in the seventh. Greg Perret led the Bats with three hits, three runs and three RBI. Bryant Veiga added a home run, four RBI and two runs, while Jeff Forgerson went 3-for-6 with an RBI and Ryan Kesecker collected two hits and two RBI. Carlsbad also received two RBI from Kesecker and one each from Eddie George, Kieran Bradford and Stephanos Stroop. John Masklee earned the win for Carlsbad after allowing two runs on nine hits over seven innings. He walked two and struck out 11. D. Luque followed with two scoreless innings and four strikeouts. White Sands starter Paul Jinkens took the loss after giving up seven runs, six earned, on five hits in three innings.
