Train Robbers Pound Pacifics 16-1

July 19 2024 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the San Rafael Pacifics 16-1 after scoring in four innings and collecting 23 hits. Bakersfield struck for four runs in the first inning, added two in the second, exploded for seven in the fourth and finished with three in the eighth. San Rafael’s lone run came in the seventh inning. Cole Modgling led Bakersfield with four hits and three runs in seven at-bats. Paul Carreno also collected four hits in five at-bats, while Joe Riddle and Paul Von Zboray each drove in three runs. Alex Miller added two RBI, and Sebastian Trinidad scored twice and finished with two hits. The Train Robbers drew six walks and stole two bases. Jayden Metz earned the win for Bakersfield with seven innings of two-hit ball. He allowed one run, none earned, walked one and struck out nine. Jalyn Lee completed the shutout relief effort over the final two innings with one hit allowed and three strikeouts. Jake Dent took the loss for San Rafael after allowing nine hits and eight runs in 3.1 innings. Xavier Stewart gave up five runs on five hits in two-thirds of an inning, while Jason Hartwick worked four innings and allowed nine hits and three runs. The Pacifics finished with three hits and committed five errors.
