Train Robbers Pull Away From Seaweed 7-2

July 4 2024 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 7-2, collecting 13 hits while limiting Vallejo to six. Bakersfield scored in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings before breaking the game open with three runs in the sixth. Vallejo scored twice in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.

Jalyn Lee led Bakersfield with three hits, including a double, and scored twice. Paul Von Zboray added two hits and two runs, while Ashanti Ross scored twice and contributed a triple and an RBI. Kyle Langston went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Noah McCreary and Isaiah Mirabal each added an RBI.

Langston earned the victory with a complete-game effort, allowing six hits and two runs, one walk and striking out seven over nine innings. Christian Zellner took the loss for Vallejo after allowing 13 hits and seven earned runs in six innings. Matthew Lazcano held Bakersfield scoreless over the final two innings, allowing no hits while recording one strikeout and two walks.

Carlos Drain provided Vallejos key offensive contribution with a home run and two RBIs. Drain also had two hits, while Mickey Nunes and Henry Paulino each added a hit. Bakersfields victory improved its record to 33-21, while Vallejo fell to 25-29.
