Bakersfield Outlasts Lancaster in High Scoring Battle

June 5 2023 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Lancaster Sound Breakers 16-10 in a high-scoring game at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Bakersfield collected 12 hits and Lancaster finished with 15, but the Train Robbers turned a fast start into the winning margin.

Lancaster scored five runs in the first inning, but Bakersfield answered with four runs in the bottom half and added four more in the second to take an 8-5 lead. The Train Robbers extended the advantage with three runs in the fourth and two in the seventh. Both teams scored three times in the eighth before Lancaster added one run in the ninth.

Tevin Brown led Bakersfield by going 4-for-4 with four runs, two walks and one RBI. Rick Phillips went 3-for-6 with three runs and two RBIs, while Max Tracey and Raul Ortega each drove in three runs. Lancaster received home runs from Luke Smith and Kyle Jenkins; Jenkins went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Julian Hunt added three hits and two runs.

Austin Toerner earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing 10 hits and six earned runs in seven innings while striking out seven and walking four. Cameron Isbell worked two innings in relief. Lancaster starter Gilberto Rosario took the loss after surrendering 12 hits and 16 runs, 12 earned, with 11 walks and five strikeouts in eight innings.
