July 24 2019 Wasco Reserve defeated the Tucson Saguaros 16-10 in a high-scoring game at Wasco Recreation Ballpark. Wasco collected 19 hits and overcame Tucson’s 13-hit effort, with both teams committing two errors.
Tucson scored once in the first inning, twice in the third, three times in the fifth and once in the seventh before adding three runs in the eighth. Wasco answered with two runs in the second and third innings, then broke the game open with a 10-run sixth inning. Wasco added another run in the seventh and held Tucson scoreless in the ninth.
Jordan Dicks led Wasco with five hits in six at-bats, three RBI and two runs. Scott Martinez went 3-for-6 with a home run, two doubles, three runs and three RBI, while Austin Hoffman had three hits, including a triple, with two RBI. JJ Santana added two RBI, and Charlie Padilla drove in two runs. Tucson’s Lawrence Chavez went 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs, while Daniel Diaz hit a three-run home run and finished with four RBI. Nick Diaz contributed two hits and two RBI.
Blake Garrett earned the win for Wasco after allowing two hits and four runs in two innings, with two strikeouts and three walks. Mitchell Langer followed with two scoreless innings, striking out two. Kris Keach took the loss for Tucson after allowing five hits and three earned runs in two innings. Wasco starter Dmitry Shtykher allowed eight hits and six runs in five innings.
